Tennesee’s Wild Side Weekly Fishing Report

Old Hickory Lake Fishing Report June 25, 2009

Today I fished with a friend of mine, Shawn Cantrell. He had never been on the lake before and we were spoiled quickly. We managed a nice limit in about 15 minutes. After that bite died we moved on to fishing some docks close to the creek channel and caught more solid keepers. The fish were active and biting pretty well up to about 10 o' clock. Then things slowed and we moved to drops and ledges. Though we did not find any good schools of bigger fish, we did catch some good fish at each stop. Around 1 o' clock we found some wolf packs of smaller fish off the drops, feeding. The highlight of the day was catching a nice largemouth and watching the smallmouth following it try to eat the worm out of its mouth.

No doubt the fish were feeding well! It was a great day for numbers and some good fish. We caught fish on crankbaits, shakey heads, jigs and assorted plastics. The lake is stable at summer pool and the water color is nice. Water temperature was in the 80's . Be safe out there and good fishing, Matt Crabill
